Background

Jerrod ran away from home at the age of 9, and learned to look out for himself on the streets of Sigil. He learned he had a knack for thievery and felt fortunate when that talent was nurtured by various gangs and criminal groups in the City (fortunate they took notice of him before the city's guards did at least). By the time he aged into maturity, he had been hiring himself out to whichever groups were paying well enough at the time. Jerrod always seemed to know when the law was about to close in on a particular gang and find new affiliation right around that time.

Now an adult, Jerrod was having a grand time surfing within the criminal underbelly of Sigil. That was until Shanta came along (technically Jerrod and his gang of the week kidnapped her). The young lady stole the heart of the young cutthroat. Everything after that was the classic love story: Jerrod waited for his shift on watch, then killed the other gang members in their sleep. He and Shanta were married a few days later, an extravagant affair with freeflowing alcohol financed largely by the reward for her safe return paid by Shanta’s father (never actually made aware that Jerrod the rescuer was also the one that kidnapped Shanta in the first place).

Shanta’s noble family (Cargrove) would not approve of her marrying a common thug, so at her urging he made a slight career (title) change to "mercenary". Two kids (and another on the way) later had Jerrod seeking to upgrade his pay rates. That’s when he heard about good paying work from the Purity guild, so he signed up right away. Adventures in other planes sounded appealing. Some time away from the wife and kids and Sigil doing what he enjoys most: killing and stealing.
